Executive Board Meeting
Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at 7:30pm

Second Floor Meeting Room

Present: Jerry Francis, Betty Cannon, Ted Goldsborough, Jack Hagner, Joan Roberts, and Phil Eidelson (non-voting).

Excused Absences: Andy Amsterdam, Denise Francis, Alison Graham, S. Hamill Horne, Lynne Kauffman, Bobbie McElroy, Jack Maguire, Ross Mitchell, Dennis Montagna, and Bruce Reed.

NOTE: There was NOT a quorum for this meeting. According to our By-Laws, a quorum requires a majority or a minimum of 8 people in attendance. At this meeting there was an attendance of only 5 people; therefore, the meeting was held, but there was no resolutions or votes cast.

Jerry Francis called the meeting to order at 7:30pm and Ted Goldsborough led the Pledge Of Allegiance.

Treasurer's Report: Jack Hagner presented the Report as of December 31, 2005, showing that we are in good shape. Total Assets were $59,759. Jerry discussed "The First 300..." book sales for 2005 which were 178 units sold and 5 units given out as complimentary copies.

Education Report: Ted Goldsborough reported that for 2005, the Society participated in 49 lectures and events that had an attendance of over 2,500 people. These statistics are consistent with our past years efforts. The most recent program was on December 13th when Alice Hoffman, Ann Bagley, and Denise Francis hosted a "Park House Guide Study Day" that included lectures and tours of the Merion Meeting and the Lower Merion Academy.

Programs: Jerry Francis announced that there are three programs scheduled for this Spring. 1) Sunday, March 19th "Treasurers of Fairmount Park; The Summer Villas" Ann Bagley and Denise Francis will give a slide tour and lecture at the Lower Merion Academy. 2) Thursday, April 20th will be our Annual Meeting and Banquet and The "New" Tavern Restaurant with John and Jan Haiges as our entertainment. 3) Saturday, May 20th at the Thomas Massey House for a "Colonial Dinner" with our neighbors from the Haverford Township Historical Society.

Library & Website: Jerry Francis reported on the annual statistics. In 2003 there were 63,722 visitors to our website. In 2004, there were 91,833 visitors (a 44% increase in traffic over the previous year). In 2005, there were 162,032 visitors (a 76% increase in traffic over the previous year). The 2005 statistics translate into 444 visitors/day to our virtual library.

Also, the host service "Pennsylvania Destination of the Day" featured us on December 27, 2005 as the best website in Pennsylvania.

The project continues to add the "First 300..." to the website. We anticipate to launch this new service in time for our Annual Meeting in April.

Membership: Nothing to report.

Old Business: Nothing to report.

New Business: According to our By-Laws, the following committee assignments were made:

Budget Committee (cf. Article VIII, Section 2) of Jack Hagner & Jerry Francis.
Financial Review Committee (cf. Article VIII, Section 4) of Phil & Ann Bagley.
Nominating Committee (cf. Article VIII, Section 7) of Ted Goldsborough, Ross Mitchell & Jerry Francis.
